Call to Worship

Opening Prayer

Enduring One

who offers grace to all who come to you,

we come this day,

glad of this sacred time to be “especially” with you;

glad of this sacred time when we can set aside,

for a while,

that which would distract us or drag us down,

or keep us from hearing you;

and glad to draw near to your high place

of the heart,

where you help us to see more clearly.

In this place of rest and reflection, of nurture and quenching,

and of peace and healing,

may we see your kingdom so clearly that we are filled with your overflowing joy. Amen.[1]

During the summer months, many of our clients can get around the city on bicycle, but many lack a bike lock to keep their wheels safe. We are looking for good quality U locks or similar to help make sure our folks can have reliable transportation.

  1. b) We are also looking for a person with a vehicle that is capable of picking up furniture for a client. He currently has furniture waiting for him, but he has no way to move it to his apartment. If you could help out, we would love to hear from you.

Minute for Mission

Skylight Festival

Our gifts for Mission & Service support innovation. Let us hear a story about this festival.

The Skylight Festival emerged out of the collaboration of a small ecumenical group of people who are passionate about arts, faith, peace, and justice. They wanted to create an open space for people of many backgrounds to come together to explore faith while engaging in art and being inspired by speakers and seekers of justice.

In the summer of 2015 Skylight Festival ran a pilot weekend event that was a resounding success and by all accounts was an incredible experience for many! July 2016 marked the official launch of the festival.

The 2016 Skylight Festival is where the innovative initiative known as Embracing the Spirit was launched. The program is supported through Mission & Service. Headed up by a team from EDGE Network, it celebrates innovation. We are thankful for creative spaces like Skylight Festival that nurture hope, joy, and transformation, offering diverse communities a place to connect arts, faith, and justice.

We give thanks for spaces that enliven innovation in our church. We sing thanksgiving for the Skylight Festival.

If Mission & Service is already a regular part of your giving, thank you

so much! If you have not given for Mission & Service, please join me in

making Mission & Service a regular part of your life of faith. In all our

Mission & Service giving, with a willing heart, we sing thanksgiving to God!
