Tasmanian Water Carriers

On July 23, 2017 Westworth hosted a largely Indigenous delegation from the Uniting Church in Australia. They joined us for worship and spoke at a panel over lunch about the Truth and Reconciliation process in Australia.

They gave us a gift of these two water carriers made out of kelp by Indigenous people in Tasmania. They also gave us a copy of the revised Constitution of the Uniting Church in Australia, which confesses the colonial impact of the church on Indigenous peoples and acknowledges Indigenous spirituality prior to European contact. This Constitution is on the bulletin board in the upper hallway.
