Christian Education at Westworth includes programs that help adults grow in their faith, understanding and Christian discipleship. Most programs are short-term (1 – 8 sessions) and are usually free. Occasionally advance registration is required in order to assist the leaders in planning.
Adult Learning Opportunities at Westworth
Small Groups
A variety of small groups gather together over a specific interest and include prayer, support for one another and some type of outreach that extends beyond their own group. We currently offer the following small groups:
Prayer Shawl Group
Gathers once a month on Wednesdays and knits prayer shawls for the ministers to take on pastoral care visits.
Walking Group
Meets in the fall and spring for walks in the neighbourhood.
Faith Exploration Group
Meets for 8 sessions with those who would like to be confirmed as adults, become members of Westworth, or simply would like to explore the foundations of the Christian faith. This is a safe place to ask the hard questions about the origins of the Bible, the progression of Christian beliefs over the centuries, what the United Church believes, what we believe and what our own spiritual gifts might be.
Lenten Study Group
During Lent, the 6 weeks prior to Easter, we will offer in-depth studies on areas of the Christian faith.
Women’s Spirituality Group
10 Saturday Mornings from September to June, 9:00 to 11:30 a.m.; usually the 2nd Saturday of the month.
Leadership: Members of the Group
Breakfast snacks, check-in, meditation and discussion of a topic are all part of a typical
Saturday morning with this group. All women on a spiritual quest are welcome.
